Andrea 2 Bonaire Snorkeling Guide [Rated + Reviewed]

by | Last updated Jul 31, 2025 | Bonaire, Best Snorkeling Caribbean

As experienced snorkelers who’ve explored reefs all over from Belize and Rangiroa to the Maldives, my husband and I can confidently say that Bonaire offers some of the best shore snorkeling in the Caribbean. It’s our #1 thing to do on the island!

While Bonaire is famous among divers, snorkelers shouldn’t overlook it. There are some truly amazing sites just north of Kralendijk, including 1000 Steps, Karpata, and one of our favorites, Andrea 2.

Let’s dive into how to get there, where to snorkel at Andrea 2, and the cool sea life you might spot along the way.

Andrea 2 offers shallow snorkeling, which makes it easy to get up close to the reef and all the vibrant fish. It’s one of the reasons we love this spot, and it’s great for beginners!

We always bring our own snorkeling gear, and after testing a lot over the years, we’ve narrowed it down to these top recommended essentials.

At Andrea 2, start by snorkeling to the left along the shoreline, then loop around and explore the right side.

Both sides offer a great variety of fish and plenty of reef to explore.

The entry is rocky and can be a little tricky to navigate.

Watch out for sea urchins.

Bonaire Fish Sightings

We spotted a great variety of marine life at Andrea 2, including schools of blue tang, large rainbow parrotfish, scrawled filefish, honeycomb cowfish, spotted trunkfish, Bermuda chubs, banded butterflyfish, French grunts, and French angelfish.

As we snorkeled along the reef, we passed by several coral types, including brain coral, lettuce coral, staghorn, and sea rods.

We always bring along our favorite snorkeling camera to capture all of our fish sightings.

Final Thoughts

With more than 60 dive sites in Bonaire, choosing where to snorkel can feel a bit overwhelming.

Andrea 2 is a great option. It’s easy to access, has calm, shallow waters, and offers a nice variety of marine life. Great for beginner snorkelers!

If you’re staying near Kralendijk, other top nearby snorkel spots include Bari Reef and Klein Bonaire.

Happy snorkeling!
