Where to Stay on Praslin: Best Value Boutique Stay for Couples

by | Last updated Aug 9, 2025 | Seychelles, Hotel Reviews Africa

My husband and I are all about getting the most value out of every trip. My travel motto is simple: “save smart, splurge wisely.” That mindset shapes how we choose where to stay around the world. We’re drawn to independent boutique properties because they often strike that perfect balance I call “luxury value.” With that philosophy in mind, we scoured the internet for the best place to stay on Praslin that’s ideal for couples, and wow, we found it! Terrasse Sur Lazio is a true hidden gem. Here’s everything you need to know about our incredible stay during our 6 days in the Seychelles, and why it’s my #1 pick for where to stay on Praslin.

The Location + Arrival

A Map of Where to Stay in Praslin Seychelles

Map of where to stay on Praslin

Terrasse Sur Lazio is perfectly situated on the western side of Praslin, perched high on a hill with sweeping ocean views that look out toward the famous Anse Lazio.

It’s a prime location.

Anse Lazio is just a 20-minute hike from the property once you drive down the hill! If you’re not familiar, this beach consistently ranks among the best in the world and offers good snorkeling.

My husband and I are experienced snorkelers, and this was one of my favorite snorkel spots in the Seychelles!

Even better, the property is also near another world-famous beach: Anse Georgette. Many travelers visit Praslin just to see it. It’s stunning and offers fun snorkeling with friendly fish.

Access can be a bit tricky since it’s inside a luxury resort, but as a guest of Terrasse Sur Lazio, you will not have any problem. I break it all down in my Anse Georgette Snorkeling Guide.

We arrived at Praslin via a short ferry ride from La Digue (after an incredible stay at our favorite boutique hotel in La Digue), followed by a scenic 25-minute drive to the property.

When we left Praslin, we flew back to Mahe from the local Praslin airport, which is just a 10-minute drive away from Terrasse Sur Lazio.

Not sure how to get to Praslin? Don’t worry. I’ve got you covered. Check out my post: Ferry vs. Plane: Which Is Best? to help you decide. We did both and shared our experiences.

Bottom line: you won’t find a better-located vacation rental on Praslin. The only caveat is that you’ll definitely need a rental car.

I highly recommend Capricorn Car Rental. If you’re still deciding who to rent from, here’s my full car rental review to help make your choice easier.

The hill up to the property is steep, and driving on the left side may take a moment to adjust to but honestly, it’s not too bad.

When we arrived, we messaged Raphael, who helps manage the property, via WhatsApp. He showed up within minutes and was super friendly and helpful. A great first impression to kick off our stay.

The Rooms

Four rooms at Terrasse sur Lazio on Praslin

Four rooms at Terrasse Sur Lazio on Praslin

With only four rooms on the property, Terrasse Sur Lazio feels incredibly intimate and private, almost like your own personal villa.

There are two units on the top floor and two on the ground floor, so no matter where you stay, you’ll enjoy peace and quiet.

We booked the one-bedroom apartment, which is shown in the listing photos as being on the top floor. Our room was on the ground floor. Just something to keep in mind, as room assignment can vary based on availability.

I’ll admit, I was a bit disappointed at first not to have the elevated view, but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

Being on the ground floor made it super convenient to access the pool, rinse off our snorkeling gear at the outdoor shower, and use the shared laundry area (a huge perk for longer trips!).

Even with that minor surprise, we absolutely loved our stay and would return in a heartbeat.

The moment we walked into our apartment, we were pulled toward the floor-to-ceiling windows that let in beautiful natural light and framed the outdoor view.

The living area had a plush couch facing the TV on the right, while the fully equipped kitchen on the left had everything you’d need for a self-catering stay: full-sized fridge, gas stove, kettle, toaster, microwave and most importantly, a Nespresso machine (morning coffee is a must!).

The bedroom featured a king-sized bed, powerful ceiling fan, and excellent air conditioning.

As a sleep diva, I need things cold, dark, and quiet, and this room delivered on all fronts. The blackout curtains helped block the morning sun, and the AC-fan combo kept the room at the perfect sleep temperature.

Though I usually prefer staying on the top floor to avoid noise from above, I was pleasantly surprised. We didn’t hear a single sound from the guests upstairs.

Either the insulation is fantastic, or our neighbors were incredibly considerate. Probably both.

The decor included sweet personal touches, like ocean-themed pillows and a bed runner featuring the colorful lined surgeonfish, which was exactly the kind we saw during our snorkeling adventure at Anse Lazio!

And then there’s the bathroom, clearly designed with care and intention. Therese, the owner, later told us she had a hand in designing it herself, and it shows.

The space was large with double sinks, double showers, ample luggage space, a floor-to-ceiling mirror, and even a dedicated makeup mirror.

And yes, the water pressure and temperature were perfect (a crucial detail in my book!).

Outside, the apartment’s private terrace offered sea views, a four-seater dining table, and two chairs perfect for sipping morning coffee or unwinding with a local Takamaka rum cocktail at sunset.

We actually visited the Takamaka Rum Distillery later on during our incredible island tour with Nils when we went to Mahe.

Finally, one of the unexpected luxuries of this property?

The shared washing machine!

When you’re traveling for weeks (we paired our island getaway with a safari in Tanzania), there’s nothing better than fresh, clean clothes.

Just don’t forget to pick up laundry detergent at the grocery store! Farish Family Mart was a 6-minute drive away and had all the essentials including coffee, milk, cereal, juice, etc.

Breakfast

While Terrasse Sur Lazio is officially a self-catering stay, they also offer the option to enjoy home-cooked breakfast and dinner for a reasonable cost, and it’s well worth it.

Most mornings, we had breakfast in our room, but one morning we decided to try their breakfast service.

It’s served between 7:45 am – 9:00 am, and Raphael set us up poolside under the palapa, shaded and relaxed.

He prepared eggs to order (choose from boiled, scrambled, fried, or omelette), fresh fruit and juice, lattes, fried banana fritters, and Therese’s delicious homemade jam.

Dinner

Now, let me shout this part:

MAKE SURE TO BOOK DINNER DURING YOUR STAY.

Seriously, it’s a must!

Dinner at Terrasse sur Lazio is an incredibly special experience. There’s a dedicated dining deck perched at the far end of the property, overlooking breathtaking views of Anse Lazio.

We booked our dinner for 6:00 pm to catch the full effect of the sunset, and it was nothing short of magical.

The menu includes Seychellois specialties like fish curry in coconut milk, grilled fish fillet, garlic prawns, BBQ whole fish, and chicken curry.

Raphael, the warm and attentive host, served us a full feast: chicken curry with rice, fresh avocado salad, and lentil soup, along with a chilled bottle of white wine in an ice bucket.

The entire meal was homemade and incredibly flavorful, honestly one of the best we had in the Seychelles.

And the value? Unbeatable.

Just €45 for two people, and the wine was €25. I’d recommend booking dinner every night you’re there. You won’t find a better meal or view on the island.

A few notes: Dinner is available Monday through Friday from 6:00 pm to 6:45 pm, and you’ll need to place your order before 11:00 am on the day of.

Plan accordingly because you don’t want to miss this!

Pool

The pool offers a stunning view of the sea, making it the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring.

One thing I especially appreciated was the temperature. It was refreshingly cool without being too cold, just right for a dip after hours in the tropical heat.

And trust me, the Seychelles humidity is no joke. This pool was a lifesaver.

I also loved that the property had an outdoor shower. Perfect for rinsing off after a day of exploring or cleaning all of our personal snorkeling gear we brought along.

The property also had a drying rack for all your clothes and gear.

The Rates

We visited in May, and while rates vary by season, they typically start around $220 USD/night and up.

Yes, you read that right. Incredible value for what you get.

The Reasons for Choosing This Hotel

#1- Unbeatable Views

One of the first things that drew us to this property was the view.

During our Curieuse Island & Snorkeling Tour with the amazing Captain Jacques, we cruised past Terrasse Sur Lazio perched high on the hill. Jacques mentioned that many of his guests often ask, “Wow, who owns that place?”

Now we know why.

From the terrace, my husband and I spent our mornings and evenings soaking in the panoramic views over Anse Lazio. It truly felt like we were staying in a private celebrity hideaway.

The elevated location also meant we had a wonderful, cooling breeze, which made a huge difference in the Seychelles heat. Maybe that’s why we didn’t see many mosquitoes.

\

#2- Incredible Hosts

One of the standout features of Terrasse Sur Lazio is the warm, attentive hospitality from Therese and Raphael. They make you feel at home and are responsive, kind, and genuinely invested in making your stay memorable.

You’ll feel like a welcomed guest, not just a visitor.

You don’t earn an incredible 9.8 rating on Booking.com (which is nearly impossible to achieve) without exceptional hosts. Terrasse sur Lazio absolutely delivers on that front.

\

#3- Prime Location

You’ve heard it before: location, location, location, and this one checks all the boxes.

Praslin is known for three iconic highlights:

  • Anse Lazio – A world-renowned beach with excellent snorkeling
  • Anse Georgette – Ranked #30 on the World’s Best Beaches
  • Coco de Mer – The largest nut in the world, found at Vallée de Mai or Fond Ferdinand

Terrasse Sur Lazio puts you within easy reach of all three:

  • Anse Lazio: Just a 20-minute hike (after a short drive down the hill)
  • Anse Georgette: 5 minutes by car to the Constance Lemuria resort
  • Vallée de Mai: 20-minute drive; Fond Ferdinand: around 30 minutes

It’s a perfect home base for exploring the best of Praslin. Refer back to the map of all the top sites for orientation.

Other Hotels We Considered

I always like to include this section in my hotel reviews. I think it’s helpful to see the decision-making process behind where we ultimately stayed.

We look for unique boutique properties with personality, modern comforts, and warm, personalized service. A few places made our shortlist:

  • Anse Lazio Lodge: This highly-rated spot sits just steps from Anse Lazio beach, a huge plus! It’s surrounded by lush greenery and known for its friendly hospitality. That said, it lacked both a pool and the sweeping views that Terrasse Sur Lazio offers.

  • Treasure Island Retreat: A charming, family-run property with a bright and airy design, stunning waterfront setting, and beautiful views. It came close, but again, no pool.

Final Thoughts

We truly loved our time on Praslin, but our exceptional stay at Terrasse Sur Lazio is what made the island so memorable.

Sometimes, the place you stay becomes the destination itself.

Stop scrolling. Book it now.

You’ve just found the best place to stay on Praslin.

Happy travels!
