Divi Little Bay Snorkeling Guide [Rated + Reviewed]

by | Last updated Jan 7, 2025 | St. Martin, Best Snorkeling Caribbean

I wouldn’t say St. Martin has spectacular snorkeling like St. John and Bonaire, but there are a few little gems worth seeking out if you love to snorkel. One of them is Divi Little Bay. Discover how to get there, where to snorkel, and what interesting fish (and sunken vessels!) you might see.

How to Get There

Parking lot at Divi Little Bay in Sint Maarten

Put in “Divi Little Bay Beach Resort” in GoogleMaps and follow the driving directions.

This snorkeling location is located on the Dutch side.

If you are still trying to figure out which side to stay on, don’t miss my comparison post on Sint Maarten (Dutch) vs. Saint Martin (French)!

There is a huge parking lot in front of the Divi Little Bay Beach Resort. Park and walk outdoors through the resort until you reach the beach.

As you are facing the water, walk all the way to the left on the beach towards the rock wall.

This is the spot where you enter.

By the way, if you love snorkeling, invest in good gear to take on all of your trips.

My husband and I love to snorkel. Here is my personal snorkeling gear I take on all of our “snorkations.”

There are two areas worth checking out.

→   Rock Wall

As you face the water, snorkel on the left and hug the rock wall.

Take your time and look in the crevices. We found an eel slithering along and ducking into one of the holes in the rocks on the sea bottom.

→   Tiki Hut

The second area of interest is near a large floating wooden platform known as the Tiki Hut.

If you keep snorkeling to the left, you cannot miss it.

After you snorkel, you can climb aboard and have a refreshing rum punch and a snack at the bar or relax in a lounge chair.

They were closed when we went, and I’m not sure if/when they will open back up again. I would love to know your experience if you’ve tried it!

What makes the area around the Tiki Hut unique for snorkeling is the sunken airplane, helicopter, submarine, and canons.

There are buoys around the area designating where to snorkel.

The Tiki Hut also runs tours where you walk around a track on the bottom of the seafloor wearing a helmet that provides air. You can then observe the sunken vessels up close.

You’ll see that track later on in my photos.

By the way, have you ever tried SNUBA?

This highly rated company offers this experience in Little Divi Bay. Look fun, but I haven’t tried it.

Entry

Entry is directly from the beach and is super easy.

St. Martin Fish Sightings

We saw a few schools of sergeant majors, one eel, one turtle, and a sunken submarine, helicopter, and airplane.

I am not going to lie. Snorkeling around the sunken vessels was fun but a little creepy.

It reminded me of snorkeling over the sunken tugboat at Mangel Halto in Aruba.

Final Thoughts

My husband and I love staying on the French side of St. Martin and snorkeling around Pinel Island and Petite Clef.

However, if you are on the Dutch side, snorkeling at Divi Little Bay is worth popping into the water.

Keep your eyes peeled for eels and turtles, and don’t miss the sunken helicopter, airplane, and submarine!
