3 Best Burgundy Wine Tours According to a Wine Traveler
My husband and I love winecations and have done too many wine tours to count. We seek out small group experiences with excellent guides that focus on smaller wine producers. The Burgundy wine region produces some of the most exceptional Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays. We couldn’t wait to try out some of the most renowned wines in the world at their source (which is #26 on our couples bucket list!). Let’s go through our top recommended Burgundy wine tours to show you around.

Our Top 3 Burgundy Wine Tours
If you want to skip all the details, here’s the TL;DR version of who runs the best Burgundy wine tours.
Bourgogne Evasion
Authentica Tours
PRIVATE TRIP
01-Best Private/Group Burgundy Tour
Burgundy wine tour with Authentica Tours
OUR PICK: AUTHENTICA TOURS
WHAT TO EXPECT
We are a little picky when it comes to selecting a wine tour. When I say Authentica Tours offers an incredible wine tour, I truly mean it. There’s a reason why they have 5-star reviews on Tripadvisor since 2012!
You don’t have to be a wine professional to enjoy this tour. They really do cater to all wine knowledge levels from beginner to connoisseur. We really loved that our wine tour was laid back and never pretentious.
Remember the drinking and driving limit is 0.05% (as opposed to 0.08% in the U.S.), so don’t mess around. Book the wine experts for a stress-free day and a lot of exceptional wine!
Wine tasting at Moillard-Grivot in Burgundy, France
Our full-day wine tour day started with a quick stop in the vineyards to describe what made the Burgundy wine region so special. This was followed by our first winery of the day, Moillard-Grivot.
This historic wine estate has been around since 1848 in the Côte de Nuits region, which is known for its prestigious vineyards. We enjoyed 6 fantastic wine tastings including a Grand Cru!
Beef bourguignon and creamy mashed potatoes paired with Pinot Noir at Domaine Trapet Père et Fils
Next up was my FAVORITE part of the tour – a delicious homemade 3-course lunch at a wine estate paired with the most exceptional wine from Domaine Trapet Père et Fils. I didn’t want to leave and was in foodie heaven! Plus, our generous host was the kindest man with a great sense of humor.
Our last stop was at a smaller family-run wine estate, Domaine Quivy. We enjoyed 4 wine tastings in a charming historic home.

02- Best Burgundy Bike Tour
Biking through the vineyards in Burgundy
OUR PICK: BOURGOGNE EVASION
WHAT TO EXPECT
We love wine.
We love biking.
Combining these two passions makes for a great day.
My husband and I rented E-bikes from Bourgogne Evasion and did one incredible self-guided bike ride through the most expensive vineyards in the world. Of course, we included a few wine tastings along the way!
If you do not want to figure out all the logistics yourself, Bourgogne Evasion offers a highly-rated bike + wine tasting tour.
Your expert guide will take you past the beautiful castle, Chateau de La Rochepot followed by a wine tasting at Domaine Famille Picard.
Then it’s lunch time followed by one more wine tasting in Pommard, Volnay, or Meursault.
PRO TIP: I strongly recommend E-bikes. There are some hills. Why not make it easy, so you can truly soak in all that scenery (and lots of wine!).

03- Best Burgundy Wine Tour from Paris
Burgundian vineyards
OUR PICK: PRIVATE TRIP
WHAT TO EXPECT
We thoroughly enjoyed spending several days in wine country to fully embrace the French art de vivre lifestyle. This is precisely what we experienced during our visits to both Champagne and Burgundy.
However, I realize sometimes you do not have that extra time in your travel itinerary. If you are short on time, consider a small group day trip from Paris to Burgundy to get a taste of this famous wine region.
The highly-rated tour company, Private Trip, will make a visit seamless. They pick you up and drop you off from your Paris hotel.
Hospices de Beaune
A lot of highlights are included in the wine tour:
→ Visit to Chateau de Pommard
→ Hospices de Beaune (#3 on my top things to do in Burgundy!)
→ Chateau de Meursault (my favorite French village)
→ 15th-century fortress Chateau de Chateauneuf-en-Auxois
→ Famous Chateau du Clos de Vougeot
→ Possible visit to a small wine producer, Domaine Armelle et Bernard Rion
That’s quite a list!
Final Thoughts
Pinot Noir is certainly one of our favorite grape varietals. We have been to quite a few wine regions seeking out the best wine produced from this fussy grape including Hemel-en-Aarde Valley in South Africa, Central Otago in New Zealand, Vipava Valley in Slovenia, and Willamette Valley in Oregon. But nothing beats experiencing this exceptional wine in Burgundy, France!
