Ah, Belize. I truly fell in love with its laid-back vibe and DIY adventure attitude. I am specifically referring to Ambergris Caye, Belize’s largest island. Just a short flight from Belize City, this island is home to world-class snorkeling, golf carts, secret beaches, authentic local food, and friendly locals. Follow our 6 day Belize itinerary to discover everything it has to offer.

Also, don’t miss the Seahorse Ranch Reserve. These tiny creatures are hard to locate but are pretty incredible when you find them. All the details can be found in my article Top 10 Things To Do in Belize.

Who Will Like This Belize Itinerary
- Snorkeling & diving enthusiasts
- DIY adventure lovers
Best Time to Go to Belize
Go during the dry season from late November to mid-April.
Avoid hurricane season from June – mid November.
We traveled at the end of November during the Thanksgiving holiday. This time frame was considered the shoulder season, so hotel prices were cheaper. It was also right at the end of the rainy season and the beginning of the dry season.
We had a few overcast days but no rainouts. The snorkeling was fantastic.
Hotel Booked
- Banyan Bay Suites, which has now been renovated into the Marriott property Alaia Belize, Autograph Collection. Great location!
Airlines Used
American Airlines
- We had a layover in Miami both ways to Belize City (BZE). Total flight times from the east coast + layovers was about 7 hours.
Tropic Air
- 15-minute baby plane ride from Belize City to San Pedro, Ambergris Caye.
Car Rental & How to Get Around Belize
- No cars. The way to get around is by golf cart! We rented one through our hotel. Carts Belize is a popular alternative.
Tour Operators We Used for This Belize Itinerary
- Snorkeling tour for Hol Chan Marine Reserve
Lunch/Dinner Reservations Booked in Advance
- None. All of the restaurants we chose did not require reservations.
What I Would Have Considered Changing in My Belize Itinerary
- Our snorkeling experience in Hol Chan Marine Reserve was so amazing. I wish I would have done this experience twice. It was that good.
- If we had more time, I would have considered adding on several days to explore Placencia or Hopkins, Belize. If you go during March-June around the full moon, you can actually snorkel with whale sharks!
- Something else I would have considered is taking a helicopter tour over the Blue Hole. The Blue Hole is a natural underwater sinkhole, which looks incredible from above. You can dive this site too if you are so inclined.
