Belize Itinerary: Ambergris Caye Highlights in 6 Days!

by | Last updated Aug 14, 2025 | Central America Itinerary, Belize

Ambergris Caye isn’t your overproduced, resort-only kind of island. It’s got just the right mix of laid-back charm and make-your-own-adventure energy. A quick flight from Belize City drops you into a place where mornings can mean snorkeling world-class reefs, afternoons are spent zipping around in a golf cart to some half-hidden beach, and evenings end with fresh snapper and a Belikin in hand. The locals? Warm, welcoming, and happy to point you toward their favorite spots.

I’ve packed all my best finds, eats, and must-do experiences into our 6-day Belize itinerary so you can skip the guesswork and dive straight into the good stuff.

  • Go during the dry season from late November to mid-April.
  • Avoid hurricane season from June – mid-November.
  • We traveled at the end of November during the Thanksgiving holiday. This time frame was considered the shoulder season, so hotel prices were cheaper. It was also right at the end of the rainy season and the beginning of the dry season.
  • We had a few overcast days but no rainouts. The snorkeling was fantastic.

What I Would Have Changed

  • Our snorkeling experience in Hol Chan Marine Reserve was so amazing. I wish I would have done this experience TWICE. It was that good.

  • If we had more time, I would have considered adding on several days to explore Placencia or Hopkins, Belize. If you go during March-June around the full moon, you can actually snorkel with whale sharks! We had the chance to swim with whale sharks twice. It’s an experience not to be missed.
